Developing leadership and governance excellence

The Building Community Leaders program has been developed to enhance leadership and governance skills and risk management practices in Ontario’s agricultural societies and, by extension, the agri-food sector.

Registration

The registration fee for OAAS agricultural societies is $125.00 plus HST, and for non-member ag societies, it is $225.00 plus HST. Time: Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. on day one and ends at 3 p.m. on day two.
Please register three weeks before each workshop so we can prepare materials, send information, and confirm with the hotels and caterers.

 

Cancellation Policy:

The registration fee will not be refunded. However, you may transfer the registration to another society member by contacting the OAAS at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. at least 24 hours before the workshop starts.

 

Workshops

Each two-day workshop will use an experiential approach to deliver leadership, governance, risk management practices, and community engagement skills to participants.

Networking

A post-workshop community of practice will be offered to participants so that they can continue to share and collaborate. Webinars and an online forum will accelerate best practices and leverage resources.

Engagement & Sharing

Program participants are invited to take part in a culminating event where they will be inspired to mobilize action and celebrate successes.

About the program

Starting in 2024, OAAS will host several workshops across the province to offer the opportunity for two executive members from each agricultural society to participate in the following developmental activities:

We have a series of Zoom workshops and sessions to help you update your Constitution/Articles and By-laws to be ONCA compliant; please see the dates below. These sessions will be recorded and posted on our website.ONCA Flyer

Please share this information with all the directors on your board – we encourage each society to send multiple directors/members to these sessions.

The ‘Bring your own by-laws’ webinar will be very similar to the workshop held at the Convention.  If you attended that workshop, you are welcome to attend this one also. Please print the Bylaws workbook before the sessions begin. See the link below.
