Stirling, Ontario, February 26, 2018.  The Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies (OAAS) certainly endorses the appointment of Rob Black to the Senate. At the OAAS Annual General Meeting in Toronto on February 17, Vince Brennan, Office Manager, introduced Black to the members as a voice for rural Ontario and a friend of OAAS.

In the last two years Black has assisted the OAAS with its governance changes and with its development of a strategic plan. His knowledge of policy and structure for organizations has been invaluable to the OAAS as it renewed its structure.

Rob BlackThe OAAS has sent him formal congratulations on this distinguished appointment. Many of its members had known him in past years through his work with 4-H and observed first hand his passion for agricultural communities and programs to develop leadership in its youth.

The OAAS Annual Convention on February 15-17th in Toronto attracted over 1000 delegates and service members including over 80 Fair Ambassadors. The event featured seminars on topics including volunteer retention, social media and welcomed keynote speaker Marla Calico of IAFE. Top prizes were awarded in provincial quilt, photography, poster, cookie and butter tart competitions.

The 2018 Convention was sponsored by numerous partners including Platinum Sponsor Canadian National Exhibition and Gold Sponsors AssistExpo, Dominion Regalia, Farm Credit Canada, Russell Agricultural Society and The Co-Operators.

The Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies (OAAS) is the provincial association representing over 200 Agricultural Societies from across the province.
