It continues to be an exciting time for the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies. As you will recall, at last year's Annual General Meeting, a number of amendments were made to our organization's Constitution and By-Laws. The enclosed package of changes reflects further work done by the Board and its committees over the past year pertaining to our Constitution and By-Laws and the resolution received by the November 30, 2016 deadline date for resolutions.

These amendments and the resolution will be put forward for consideration by the membership at the Annual General Meeting taking place at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto on Saturday morning, February 18, 2017.

You will find three (3) documents attached:

  1. The DRAFT updated OAAS Constitution and By-Laws showing the changes, additions and deletions being proposed, for member consideration; (Download here)
  2. A chart with further explanation and clarification about the changes being proposed; (Download here) and
  3. District 12 Resolution. (Download here)

Should you have questions or concerns about the proposed amendments to the Constitution and By-Laws or the resolution being put forward by District 12 I encourage you to contact Cathy Redden, Chair of the Governance Committee at This email address is being protected from spambots. I want to thank the Governance Committee, the Board and the Executive for their work on this important task over the past year. This work continues to strengthen and enhance the organization's corporate governance processes while ensuring an effective and efficient organization and board. That said, we are not done and with your support, further work will be done by the new Board and Executive over the next year, to ensure the OAAS remains vibrant and relevant going forward.

Thank you for all you do for your Agricultural Society and your local community. I look forward to seeing many of you and your Society represented at the upcoming Convention in Toronto in mid-February.

Sincerely,

Elaine Rennie
President, Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies
